Telecare activity continues as Tunstall Healthcare announces partnership with PPP Taking Care
Tunstall Healthcare has confirmed it is to become the technology partner for PPP Taking Care’s Personal Alarm Service, delivering Lifeline Vi home units and other connected care technology to customers across the UK.
A subsidiary of the giant AXA PPP healthcare Group, PPP Taking Care was formed following the Group’s acquisition of the Aid-Call monitoring centre – the provider of Age UK Personal Alarm service – back in 2016.
In March 2019, PPP Taking Care took over the running and management of Careline from Chichester District Council, increasing its telecare provision to 20 local authority areas.
Under the new partnership agreement, customers joining PPP Taking Care’s service will receive additional support in the form of Tunstall’s telecare technology.

Highlighting which telecare products will be available to the service’s customers, Gavin confirmed that Tunstall will supply a specially branded Lifeline Vi home unit, along with a MyAmie personal pendant with a distinctive grey button.
“We look forward to developing our partnership over time, introducing new products and services and delivering a more streamlined, person-centred care programme across the country,” he added.

Alongside Tunstall’s telecare technology, PPP Taking Care has also indicated that it plans to provide customers with a range of telecare sensors, including smoke, flood and personal fall detectors that can be worn around the neck or on the wrist, raising an alert if it senses the user has fallen.
The partnership announcement comes as the technology-enabled care sector continues to see increased activity, with local authorities, residential and nursing homes, as well as private customers seeking innovative, technology-driven means to keep people safe and independent.
With the telecare market also shifting from analogue to digital, the sector has seen a flurry of activity, particularly towards the end of 2019 with Tunstall, Appello, Doro, Medequip and Alcuris all making moves to enhance their positions in the market.
