To further expand its reach in the UK technology enabled care (TEC) market, telecare provider Doro has acquired the assets of the Careline services from Connexus Housing Group.

Connexus Careline provides technology enabled care services (TECS) in the UK, working with local authorities, housing associations, the private sector and charities. The business monitors around 25,000 telecare connections, incorporating a wide range of devices.

Following a stringent selection process, Doro has been selected as the preferred provider for Connexus Careline’s TECS. This acquisition will see Doro provide its telecare services safely to more vulnerable people across the UK, citing the need for its services to meet the changing demands of customers.

Carl-Johan Zetterberg Boudrie, President and CEO of Doro Group, said: “Doro were delighted to be selected to acquire the Careline service from Connexus Housing Group. Our vision is to empower people to get the most out of every day. We enable independence and ensure peace of mind when it matters most and we are delighted to be able to provide our services to Connexus customers into the future.

“During this worldwide pandemic we know that more and more organisations are looking at the sustainability of their services as the needs and demands of customers change. We welcome the opportunity to provide a safe home for more people across the UK.”

This latest move from Doro follows several acquisitions by the provider over the last 12 months, as the company looks to expand its presence in the UK telecare market.

Last October, Doro acquired Centra Pulse & Connect, which helped Doro significantly expand its presence in the UK TEC market, with the move seeing Doro handle close to 200,000 alarm connections in the UK.

Then, in August 2020, Doro acquired Eldercare UK to help further strengthen its UK TEC business. At the time, Doro said that this acquisition meant its business now handles over 230,000 connections and would make it one of the two largest players in the TEC market.

Following the latest acquisition, Connexus Careline has ensured that its existing clients will continue to receive a high-quality service from Doro.

Talking about the decision to sell its business to Doro, Richard Woolley, Chief Executive of Connexus Housing Group, commented: “We are rightly proud of the service that our Careline team has provided over the last 18 years as part of the housing association and indeed prior to that as part of Herefordshire Council.

“It was a tough decision to sell the business and it was important that the buyer shared our passion for customer service. Connexus is therefore very pleased to have come to an agreement with an organisation of Doro’s stature and ethos and have no doubts that our customers will continue to receive a high quality service.”

Within Doro Group, Doro Care offers social care and telecare solutions to help older and disabled people to live independently at safely in their own homes.

Throughout the past 12 months, the TEC sector has seen various M&As completed and partnerships formed, including Appello’s acquisition of Medvivo’s Careline business in December, Tunstall’s and AXA PPP Taking Care’s partnership in January, as well as SECOM partnership’s with Chiptech to launch a TEC service in July.
