Sunrise Medical Empulse F35Mobility solutions manufacturer Sunrise Medical has announced the launch of the Empulse F35, which it claims is its smallest and lightest pull device ever designed for manual wheelchairs.

Weighing 7.5 kg, the MDR-compliant F35 redefines convenience and efficiency, offering wheelchair users unparalleled ease of mobility and independence.

A Sunrise Medical spokesperson commented: “Manual wheelchair users often experience cumulative shoulder strain from daily use. Traditional pull assist devices, while helpful, are often too bulky and heavy for regular use.

“The Empulse F35 strikes the perfect balance between size and practicality by providing a compact, ultra-portable solution that makes powered mobility effortless, especially for quick jaunts around town or when travelling.”

The F35’s integrated design includes all essential components within its frame tube, minimising bulk and weight. Its handles fold down flush to the frame, saving valuable space and making it easy to store and transport.

Its patent-pending, one-motion docking system, allows users to easily attach and detach the device. The sub-frame can remain on the wheelchair all day, and for reattachment the user needs to align and push it forward to lock it back in. Transferring out of the wheelchair is equally simple, with the sub-frame being easily removable.

The F35’s design accommodates a wide range of fixed and folding wheelchairs, with frame widths from 260 to 480 mm. It attaches to both fixed and swing-away front frames, with mounting heights ranging from 249-370mm, ensuring broad compatibility and ease of use for various wheelchair models.

With a robust 250-watt motor, it handles gradients of up to six degrees with ease, even with a user weight of up to 110kg. Its three speed options allow users to match the pace of urban life, while three selectable speed profiles provide extra power for varying conditions.

Sunrise Medical states that the Empulse F35 has received positive reviews from its retailer partners for its performance, compact design and high-end finish.

Earlier this year, Sunrise Medical announced the launch of the Quickie Q50 R Carbon, a lightweight folding power wheelchair that promises to be easy to transport, store, and manoeuvre.
