Sunrise Medical launches community fund to drive accessibility and inclusion
Mobility solutions manufacturer Sunrise Medical has launched a new Community Fund to support projects that improve accessibility and inclusion for people with reduced mobility.
The £5,000 fund has been established to help remove the financial and practical barriers that can prevent people living with mobility challenges from fully participating in their communities and pursuing important life experiences.
Part of Sunrise Medical’s commitment to improving lives beyond its product portfolio, the initiative will provide funding for individuals, groups and projects that create more inclusive environments and open up new opportunities for participation and independence.
Funding will be available for a wide range of accessibility-focused opportunities, including travel support, community activities and adaptations that help people overcome mobility-related barriers.
Examples could include accessible accommodation for a family holiday, travel assistance to enable participation in a once-in-a-lifetime experience, access to specialist mobility equipment for recreational activities, or support that helps an individual celebrate a significant personal milestone.
By providing practical assistance, Sunrise Medical hopes to empower more people to access opportunities that enhance independence, wellbeing and community engagement.

Sometimes it’s about accessing equipment or assistance that helps someone do something they’ve always wanted to do, while other times it’s about creating opportunities that build independence, confidence and enjoyment.
“We’re encouraging people to share their stories with us and tell us what experience, opportunity or support would make the biggest difference to them. We want this fund to have a genuine and lasting impact on the lives of people with mobility issues.
“Whether it’s supporting a special family trip, celebrating a milestone occasion, or helping someone do something they’ve wanted to do for a long time, we’re looking forward to supporting as many people as possible.”
Applications will be reviewed by a selection panel made up of representatives from Sunrise Medical. Entries will be assessed based on the potential impact the funding could have on the applicant’s quality of life, with a particular focus on helping people living with mobility challenges turn aspirations into reality and achieve personal ambitions.
