Sunrise Medical expands paediatric mobility line with new transportable tilt wheelchair
Sunrise Medical in the US has expanded its Zippie paediatric mobility line with the launch of the Zippe Sphynx, a compact, transportable wheelchair that has static tilt and recline.
The Sphynx’s “patent-pending” one-step fold is easy and intuitive, according to Sunrise, quickly transforming into an ultra-compact package that will fit within a compact car’s trunk.
Weighing 30 pounds, the Sphynx can be easily lifted for the ultimate portability. Its weight capacity of 250 pounds, however, means that it is capable of supporting teens into young adulthood and beyond.
With available tilt angles of 10, 20, and 30 degrees, clinicians can select a seat position to accommodate weight shift as needed to support optimal posture.
The Sphynx back support can be quickly adjusted from 85 to 100 degrees recline to assist with feeding, digestion, respiratory function, and visual orientation.
According to Sunrise, the chair can support a broad range of users from paediatric clients to young adults with diverse mobility needs, numerous adaptable seating and positioning options are available.
The Sphynx can be further customized via seating and positioning components from the Jay and Whitmyer lines.
