Sunrise Medical has added two new courses to its Education in Motion STEPs programme

Assistive mobility solutions provider Sunrise Medical has added two new courses to its Education in Motion STEPs programme to support industry professionals in assessing, prescribing and fitting mobility and seating technology for their clients.

Taught by industry experts, Education in Motion (EIM) STEPS courses are designed to provide in-depth technical and clinical training for those working in the mobility sector, from occupational therapists to physiotherapists and rehab engineers to retail providers and technical professionals.

Among the new courses added is the Power Chair Masterclass. Once a pop-up, the programme, which covers drive bases, seating options and accessories has now been permanently added to Sunrise Medical’s selection of courses following positive feedback from past attendees.

Alongside the masterclass, the mat assessment and seating course will also be joining Sunrise Medical’s range of STEPs programmes. Participants will be taught essential skills to complete postural and functional assessments for wheelchair seating. As a result, tailored product recommendations can be made to suit individual needs.

The courses will be taught from Sunrise Medical’s headquarters, in Brierley Hill, West Midlands, and will provide all attendees a chance to develop hands-on experience with key mobility products, while meeting other industry workers.

Faith Brown, Clinical and Education Lead for Sunrise Medical said: “Assistive technology is constantly evolving. That’s why our STEPs courses are constantly evolving too.

“Workshops like the ones we provide enable clinicians and other professionals to further their skills to provide the best possible care to their clients. The addition of the mat assessment and seating with JAY, as well as the Power Chair Masterclass will help clinicians and retailers understand key specialisms, allowing them to match the right equipment to the right individual, thus improving outcomes and satisfaction.

“We’re looking forward to meeting professionals of all horizons over the course of the next few months.”
