Medical equipment specialists Sumed International (UK) has been appointed contractor for Cumbria County Council for the service and repair of its specialised equipment from 1st April 2021.

The three-year contract will involve Sumed providing equipment servicing and repairs for specialist lifts, hoists and specialised equipment owned by Cumbria County Council.

A leading supplier of quality branded products and services to healthcare professionals designed for the healing and maintenance of healthy skin, Sumed’s Leycare division provides services to Lancashire County Council, which has demonstrated good growth during 2020.

Graham Collyer, Sumed’s Executive Chairman commented that Sumed is delighted to have been awarded the contract.

He said: “We have seen a period of good sales growth in 2020, but in the challenging times presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, service related activity has been a focus for us.”

Martin Walker, Sumed’s Executive Director with responsibility for servicing activity said that the hard work starts now.

“We look forward to welcoming new members to the Sumed family and to working with the Cumbria County Council team.”

Sumed manufactures pressure ulcer prevention cushions and mattresses as well as Uniroll wheelchairs and a spokesperson for the firm said that it is committed to growing its service offering.

Sumed acquired Easy Access Showers Ltd t/a Leycare in June 2020 and the manufacturer has reported that the division has performed well since this acquisition.
