Strident Innovations calls out “false economy” of using cheap batteries in mobility scooters
With summer on the horizon, mobility scooter users could enjoy even more freedom in the warmer weather with the support of better-quality batteries, according to Strident Innovations.
The UK-based battery supplier says that with around 20 per cent of people in the UK using mobility scooters – or knowing someone that does – longevity is vital for ensuring users maintain their freedom and independence.
With an increase in low-cost batteries entering the market, Strident Innovations is keen to help ensure mobility scooter users do not get stranded without power.
Caleb Deayton, Managing Director at Strident Innovations, commented: “Cheap batteries may seem cost-effective, but they are often proven to be a false economy as their range and lifespan are shorter.
“Better quality batteries with higher spec components deliver greater longevity, meaning more miles travelled and therefore greater freedom for mobility scooter users.”
Strident Innovations state that quality components and better internal construction are key to the performance of mobility batteries.
Strident Innovations states that its own batteries incorporate carefully selected materials, including purified lead which is specifically blended to improve performance in both cyclic and standby use.
Superior glass matting, the firm states, is also employed to ensure consistent plate contact and more effective valves to help vent gases.
“On the surface, two batteries might look the same but performance can vary hugely when you factor in recharging cycles and long-term use,” adds Caleb.
“Our batteries have better materials, tighter quality control and higher manufacturing standards which all contribute to improved product lifespan and reliability for the user.”
Strident Innovations states that its batteries undergo a stringent quality control process, backed by its ISO 9001 certification, with longevity in mind.
With roots tracing back to the 1930s, Strident Innovations is a supplier of batteries, tyres and accessories to the mobility sector, working with stockists across the UK.
In addition to high-spec components and quality control, Strident Innovations outline that battery longevity is also influenced by charger quality, charging routine and frequency of use.
“Using a quality charger, following correct charging procedures and maintaining a suitable charging regime can all help extend battery life and performance. While no battery lasts forever, our batteries are engineered for long-lasting performance – so mobility scooter users can travel further and for longer with greater reliability,” concludes Caleb.
