Stannah has launched a new digital platform which it says will allow UK customers to arrange buying a new stairlift within 20-minutes online from a laptop, tablet or mobile phone.

Describing it as the “most frictionless customer experience in the global stairlift industry,” the stairlift and homelift manufacturer states its new platform will enable prospective customers to find and purchase a stairlift tailored to their needs and home.

Using the new online system, customers will be able to submit specific information about their home (the type of staircase and how many turns, for example) then choose from either the Standard or Deluxe Package.

Customers will also be able to choose from over 30 upholstery options to ensure the device’s fabric, colour and trim complements their home décor – an industry first, according to the company.

Once they have made their selection, customers can select a timeframe for an appointment with a Stannah expert whenever is convenient for them and place an order with a 10 per cent deposit.

Taking around 20-minutes from end-to-end, the new platform aims to create a smooth and contactless user journey. It also comes as the use of digital technologies continues to rise among older demographics as a result of the pandemic.

Afterwards, Stannah consultants will visit the customer to finalise the order and measure the staircase. An installation date will be arranged, the stairlift built bespoke and then transported and installed by one of its engineers.

Sam Stannah, who heads up the Strategic Projects Team, is the first of the sixth generation of the Stannah family to join the business, commented: “The aim of our new digital platform is simple — to give the power of choice to our customers, whilst making the purchase of a stairlift as seamless as possible.

“We recognise that everyone’s needs and tastes are different, so we are proud to offer a tailored experience with a range of features and finishes available. This is a revolutionary move in the stairlift industry and reflects our ongoing commitment to support and enable our customers in the digital era.”

Founded in 1867 and established as a key player in the stairlift sector, Stannah operates globally, providing both commercial and domestic lift products, including passenger lifts, escalators and moving walkways, vertical platform lifts, goods and service lifts.

The announcement of Stannah’s new innovation follows recent market research predicting significant global growth in the stairlift sector over the coming years – projected to hit $1.3bn by 2027.
