Stannah aims to meet growing global demand with opening of first factory in United States
Stairlift and homelift manufacturer Stannah Group is opening a new custom curved rail factory in the US as it looks to reduce lead times, meet growing demands, and adjust to global supply chain disruptions.
Stannah announced that it will soon begin manufacturing curved stairlift rails in Greer, South Carolina. It has stated that it expects to begin production by the end of the third quarter of 2022 in the new 31,200 square foot factory.
Nick Stannah, Joint Managing Director, Stannah Global Distribution exclusively commented to THIIS: “We are excited to confirm our first manufacturing site in the US.
“We are seeing continued growth across the globe and the development of our new US factory will not only support ambitious plans for our North American markets, but also free up capacity in Europe to address growing markets elsewhere.”
Manufacturing rails in the United States is expected to eliminate the substantial challenges to exporting finished rails across the Atlantic and increase company resilience in times of global disruption. Furthermore, opening the factory will create skilled manufacturing jobs in Greer, South Carolina.
With this new rail production capacity, Stannah will not only be able to meet growing demand, but equally importantly, dramatically reduce lead times for dealers and end customers in the United States.
By reducing time from point of order to installation, Stannah will be able to more quickly offer customers the freedom a stairlift brings.
Founded in 1867, Stannah has grown to have a turnover in excess of £260 million, now employing over 2000 people and providing stairlifts, commercial passenger lifts, service lifts and goods lifts to a global customer base.
In July it began rolling out its innovative digital platform in France, Spain, Italy and Portugal following a successful launch in the UK and US. The platform allows customers to book a visit from a Stannah representative and buy its life-changing products online at the click of a button from the safety and convenience of their own home.
