Stairlifts Scotland celebrates 30 years of helping vulnerable people with limited mobility
Stairlifts Scotland is celebrating 30 years of supplying mobility and specialist care equipment to customers across Scotland.
The firm, which supplies stairlifts, access platform lifts, ceiling track hoists, automatic wash-dry toilets and shower chairs/cradles amongst other products, also furnishes public Changing Places accessible toilets.
A women-founded and led SME business, Stairlifts Scotland (SSL) was founded in 1996 by Morna Barry, a therapist with a clinical background.
When her former employer refused to repair or relocate older stairlifts for clients who couldn’t afford new ones, she decided to build a company that did things differently.
Lisa Barry, Managing Director of Stairlifts Scotland, commented to THIIS: “This ‘care first’ ethos remains our guiding principle. We don’t just look at your staircase; we look at the person using it.”
The firm is also proud of its sustainability credentials and looks to reuse stock and uses electric vehicles and solar panelling for its business.
Stairlifts Scotland staff are being treated to an afternoon function at the Flight Club bar in George Square, Glasgow, this Friday.
