Snowdrop Independent Living masks

Mobility retailer Snowdrop Independent Living has launched its own branded face masks to make its customers feel safe and confident whilst shopping in-store for essential aids and products.

Since the introduction of face covering rules by the government, the retailer found that staff were expressing that wearing a face covering was making it difficult to provide its usual customer service because unbranded masks look clinical and unfriendly.

A spokesperson for Snowdrop Independent Living told THIIS: “With the branded masks, we remind customers they can still expect the same standard of service and there is a smile under every Snowdrop branded mask.”

The retailer has proven that it is no stranger to flourishing during periods of unprecedented change, having grown from three to seven stores in South Wales and the Midlands since a management buy-out in April 2019.

The branded masks have helped raise the store’s profile because currently only large national companies have provided branded masks to their staff, its spokesperson says.

“With the opening of our three Midlands showrooms in 2020, it has been our mission to make Snowdrop Independent Living a well-known national brand.”

The branded masks are for staff only as it realised that face covering products are now readily available on the market, although the store commented that it always offers a disposable one if a customer requests one.

Snowdrop Independent Living has had very positive feedback to the branded face masks from staff and customers so far.

Its spokesman said: “Staff have commented that they are well-made and comfortable, and they are wearing the masks with pride. Customers have said they love the colour green and the masks offers reassurance that we have taken our safety measures seriously.”

Kevin Bounds, Chairman of Snowdrop Independent Living, added: “Snowdrop believes in creating a safe and welcoming environment for both customers and staff and this is a typical embodiment of how our values translate into actions.

“Particularly at this time it’s important that customers don’t put off visiting us, either in store or through our website, to meet their needs and this is a small way of making this more attractive. ”

Claire Harrington, Retail Assistant at Hall Green branch, commented: “I like the masks and I hand wash them after use and put them on the radiator to dry. I just need to remember to put it away before cooking! I cooked a curry one day and the mask absorbed the lovely smell, it was making me hungry all day the next day smelling my cooking on the mask!”
