Smirthwaite expands its specialist portfolio with car seat for children with additional needs
Smirthwaite, a designer and manufacturer of bespoke equipment for children and young adults with additional needs has announced that it is becoming the primary UK distributor of the Voyager Additional Needs Car Seat.
Developed and manufactured by the In Car Safety Centre, the Voyager is a vehicular safety solution for children with complex behavioural needs. This strategic addition complements Smirthwaite’s existing specialist car seat range, which includes the popular Qai and Simon paediatric car seats.
The transition ensures that families, schools, and prescribers will retain uninterrupted access to this vital product following the retirement of its previous distributor.
Fully supported by the Motability Scheme, the Voyager accommodates children up to 36kg, offering a robust, secure, and stress-free travel solution that balances behavioural support with excellent physical positioning.

The Voyager Car Seat is available through Smirthwaite starting mid-June 2026. Local Technical Product Advisers (TPAs) are currently booking assessments and demonstrations nationwide.
