Smart technology incorporated into innovative rollator to aid those with Parkinson’s
After launching its own subsidiary in the UK at the start of the year, Rollz Mobility UK is introducing a new smart rollator to the market designed specifically for those with Parkinson’s.
Building on the success of its popular Motion model, the Rollz Motion Rhythm has been developed to help people living with Parkinson’s and similar neurological conditions which can result in a disrupted gait pattern or episodes of freezing.
The new rollator features three rhythmic cues which combine to help the user step out of a freeze and start a rhythmic walking movement. The three cues consist of a laser line on the floor, a ticking metronome sound and a vibration in the handles.
Connecting to a corresponding Rollz Rhythm app, the innovative rollator allows the user to remotely adjust the cues and control the walking pace, personalising the device to meet the needs of individual users.
The app works on both Android and iOS smartphones and is described as a useful tool for when the user is working with their occupational therapist to set up a walking pattern that meets their personal requirements and levels of mobility.
“At Rollz, we believe in always listening to feedback from our customers and retailers and the Rollz Motion Rhythm has been developed in response to requests for a rollator which addresses the needs and offers support to people living with Parkinson’s,” commented Arjan Muis, CEO, Rollz International.
“Freezing symptoms make walking difficult and the three cues on this rollator will increase the user’s confidence when going outdoors which can lead to a more active and independent lifestyle. Thanks to the Smart technology, everything can be easily set up via a smartphone.”
For increased comfort, the rollator also features ergonomic handgrips that are height adjustable and large rear wheels with soft tyres to help cushion uneven terrain.
Weighing 11.6kg and with a maximum user weight of 125kg, the company says the Rollz Motion Rhythm is ideal for most users and thanks to its innovative design it is also very easy to manoeuvre.
The Rollz Motion Rhythm comes with a five-year warranty on the frame and two-year warranty on other parts, with the exception of normal wear and tear.
There are also two optional extras with the Rollz Motion Rhythm: a wheelchair accessory pack and drag brakes.
By using the wheelchair accessory pack, the Rollz Motion Rhythm can easily and quickly be converted into a wheelchair which can be the ideal solution when the user becomes tired and needs to rest. Their friend or carer can then push them in the wheelchair while they rest.
For those users that may require a continuous resistance while walking, the Rollz Motion Rhythm can also be equipped with easy to adjust drag brakes which provide the user with the desired level of brake intensity at all times.https://thiis.co.uk/smart-technology-incorporated-into-innovative-rollator-to-aid-those-with-parkinsons/https://i2.wp.com/thiis.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Rollz-Motion-Rhythm-app.jpg?fit=900%2C580&ssl=1https://i2.wp.com/thiis.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2020/03/Rollz-Motion-Rhythm-app.jpg?resize=150%2C150&ssl=1NewsroomSupplier NewsTrade NewsAndroid, drag brakes, gait pattern,iOS smartphone,Mobility aids,Motion Accessory Pack,Parkinson's,Rollz International,Rollz Motion Rhythm,Rollz Rhythm App,smart rollatorAfter launching its own subsidiary in the UK at the start of the year, Rollz Mobility UK is introducing a new smart rollator to the market designed specifically for those with Parkinson’s.Building on the success of its popular Motion model, the Rollz Motion Rhythm has been developed to help...Calvin BarnettCalvin Barnettcalvin@thiis.co.ukAdministratorTHIIS Magazine
