The cheque was presented to Littlehampton Shopmobility by Alison Whitburn, Community Champion at Morrisons Littlehampton. The new mobility aids replace the six provided by Sussex Masonic Charities in August 2013 as part of a continuous arrangement with Littlehampton Shopmobility.

On the day of being presented the donation, the six scooters were left out on display for a crowd of supporters, volunteers and regular users.

Alan Gammon, a trustee of Littlehampton Shopmobility and Chairman of Arun District Council, thanked the charity for its generous donation and said he appreciated the support of Littlehampton Shopmobility’s staff and customers.

He told the Littlehampton Gazette: “The six mobility scooters they have provided will bring enjoyment and access to essential things, and allow residents to lead as independent a life as possible.

“Over the past few years, Littlehampton Shopmobility has gone from strength to strength. From being a small mobility service that helps people to go shopping, it has continued to grow, diversify and raise its standards.

“It is now among the best in the nation. It is much-respected in our community and is highly regarded in the mobility community.”

Each of the six new scooters are named after regular Shopmobility users as a tribute to their support.

Founded in 2015 by Morrison Supermarkets, the Morrisons Foundation supports charities making a positive difference in local communities. Since its inception, the charity has donated over £18 million to help good causes.
