Shine International donates Arjo Sara Stedy to Milton Keynes hospital imageThe Stroke Ward at Milton Keynes University Hospital recently received a new Arjo Sara Stedy, which was donated by Shine International.

Shine International made the generous donation after the general manager’s brother had a stroke and was treated at the Milton Keynes University Hospital Stroke Ward.

The company heard that the hospital would benefit from another piece of invaluable rehabilitation equipment to help staff to easily move patients around the ward and arranged for an Arjo Sara Stedy to be delivered.

William Styles, General Manager at Shine International, explained: “My brother in law, Chris Amies recently had a stroke at the age of 50 which came as quite a shock to all of his family. He was taken to Milton Keynes University Hospital where he was treated on the Stroke Ward. After spending only 4 weeks on the Ward in the care of the Staff, he had sufficiently recovered so that he was able to be discharged to continue his rehabilitation at home.

“During his time on the Ward he mentioned that there was a piece of equipment, a Stedy, which was regularly used by the Staff to move patients around the Ward. However as there were 16 patients and only one Stedy, there were times when patients needed assistance, but would have to wait until the Stedy was available.”

After hearing about the need for a second Arjo Sara Stedy and how it would benefit both the hospital staff and patients, William consulted with Shine International’s managing director who agreed that the mobility supplier could purchase the standing aid from Arjo and donate it to the stroke ward.

“Both Chris and I wanted to personally present the Stedy to the Ward, but were unable to due to the Covid-19 restrictions,” William continued.

The moving and handling device arrived at the hospital on 30 September 2020 and the ward staff took a photo with the product.

“We all hope this donation will prove very beneficial to both patients and staff,” William concluded.
