Select Medical acquires online care supplies specialists Nightingale Care Supplies
Pressure care manufacturer Select Medical – which is part of the Herida Medical Group – has acquired online care supplies specialists Nightingale Care Supplies.
The addition of Nightingale Care Supplies to Herida Medical Group’s portfolio will see both the Herida and Select Medical product ranges being offered through the Nightingale website.
Sean Spencer, Herida Medical’s Managing Director, commented: “With the NHS and care providers facing a perfect storm of supply chain issues at a time of unprecedented demand, we realised we were uniquely placed to help relieve some of this burden.
“Nightingales Care Supplies share our values and commitment to quality, so it was an easy decision to bring forward our future plans.
“We now live and work in a digital and online age and over the past 18 months more and more customers have asked if they can procure online and have access 24/7.
“Initially we looked at expanding our existing website to offer an online buying portal however, we soon realised the established Nightingale Care Supplies website would be perfect for our needs.
“The platform would also be of interest to ever growing international customers who work in different time zones. The acquisition of Nightingale Care Supplies will mean sourcing high quality care supplies is now as convenient as any other online shop.
“Being a proud UK manufacturer, we have significantly reduced the current supply chain problems and been able to manage the fluctuations around shipping costs with the majority of our products.”
Leeds-based pressure care and moving and handling manufacturer Herida Healthcare completed its acquisition of Select Medical earlier this year. Select Medical manufacture, supply, clean and repair a wide range of pressure relieving mattresses and cushions from its Blackburn site.
Last year, Sean Spencer, said that, as the firm’s new MD, he will be implementing an “aggressive growth strategy” as the firm sets out to bolster the service and repair requirements for Herida’s rapidly growing business.
