Dolphin Lifts Midands Lee Farrington

Mobility lift boss Lee Farrington has been elected to the position of Chair of the Lift and Escalator Industry Association’s (LEIA) Personal Lift Group (PLG).

The LEIA division meets three times a year to address issues concerning mobility products including stairlifts, home lifts and lifting platforms.

Providing valuable input to the association, the group helps shape key activities including technical standards, safety, education and training.

Now, the group will be chaired by industry veteran Lee Farrington, Managing Director of West Midlands-based Dolphin Lifts Mobility.

Bringing over 15 years’ experience in the lift industry to the role, Lee has overseen the growth of Dolphin Lifts Midlands to its position as one of the region’s leading suppliers and installers of access solutions.

Discussing the appointment, Lee commented: “I am deeply honoured to have been elected to this position by my peers and will endeavour to do my upmost to help support manufacturers, customers and suppliers during what are and will continue to be extremely challenging times for us all as a result of the coronavirus.”

Over recent years, the mobility leader has been actively working to ensure the industry is represented in the best possible way as Chair of the British Healthcare Trades Association’s Stairlift and Access Section – experience he says will benefit his work with LEIA.

“We need to move with the times now more than ever,” he continued.

“I am very passionate about our industry and ensuring everyone receives a first-class service and I hope to inject fresh ideas and a fresh approach to promoting the great work of the LEIA by building on the valuable work of my predecessors as we look to the future.”

Earlier in the year, THIIS interviewed Lee Farrington at the company’s new headquarters where he raised his concerns about the second-hand stairlift market and the rise of unqualified engineers fitting devices. It is an issue he will address head-on in his new role.

“One issue I believe needs urgent attention is the increase in the number of second-hand stairlifts being installed by untrained engineers as the stairlift sector is unregulated and I believe we need act now before there is a fatality,” he finished.
