Stuart Mobility, a retailer specialising solely in seating, has reached the finals of the Burton Mail Business Awards for two categories, Most Promising New Start Up and Best Customer Service Performance.

Specialising in rise and recline chairs, as well as healthcare and bespoke seating, Stuart Mobility first launched with an online presence in May 2015 before launching their bricks and mortar operation.

Coinciding with the finals held on the 18th October, Stuart Mobility recently moved to a larger retail space based in Burton-upon-Trent, with the company’s director and co-owner Justina Nurse explaining that entering awards plays a key role in raising the company’s profile.

“It was exciting to be selected as a finalist for both the categories submitted, especially as we have never properly entered any awards before. We felt the time was right at the end of our third year to start entering some awards to help promote our business and to show people what we were about,” she told THIIS.

“It was also fortunate that when we entered we operated outside of Burton but by the time the award night came around we were part of the Burton businesses.”

Discussing the decision to upsize from its smaller retailer outlet, Justina says the company outgrew its previous space in Willington, citing increased consumer demand for stocked healthcare chairs playing a key role.

“We have a good selection of chairs from Repose; Cosi-Chair; Primacare and the new Dorchester from Pride but our business has started to grow in the healthcare range of chairs and more OTs are finding us via the internet, as well as via our manufacturers, so we are needing to stock more of these kind of chairs,” explained Justina.

“This means we can provide immediate stock rather than waiting for chairs to be made. Some people cannot wait for an item of equipment to be made and need it quickly.”

The company has now moved to an industrial estate, where it says it has substantially more space, with an office, showroom and warehouse and ample free parking for customers.
