Repose Furniture has announced it is taking part in Birmingham-based charity St Basils’ 2018 Big Brum Sleepout at the end of November in the grounds of Birmingham Cathedral, with six members of the Repose team taking part in the annual event.

The brave employees of the bespoke seating manufacturer will be taking part on the night of Friday 30th as temperatures continue to drop across the UK.

Emily Husband, Customer Services Manager at Repose and who is behind the company’s involvement in the event, explained: “Whether we are on our way to work, shopping or on a night out we all see homeless people on a daily basis and this is a situation any one of us or our friends or family could find ourselves in through no fault of their own.

“By taking part and sleeping outside for just one night we will experience the difficulties that homeless people encounter every night and when I suggested taking part to some of my colleagues they all agreed it was a great idea.

“We are now busy trying to raise as much sponsorship as possible for this fantastic charity.”

St Basils houses over 1,000 young people in Birmingham and over 1,500 across the West Midlands in its 34 supported accommodation schemes. The charity also helps thousands more young people with face-to-face support and advice, but due to Government cuts, these services are at risk.

St Basils has to raise £1 million this year and the Big Brum Sleepout is its largest event of the year.

Lisa Wardley, Managing Director of Repose, commented: “On behalf of everyone here at Repose, I would like to congratulate Emily for arranging our involvement in this incredibly worthwhile cause and urge everyone to sponsor the team as they do their bit to help St Basils hit their £1 million target this year.”
