The Connect and Lite
The Connect and Lite are among the mobilty scooters featuring in the new Humfree range

Bristol-based Salus Healthcare has launched a range of lightweight mobility scooters and powerchairs which it hopes will challenge stigmas that put many people off using mobility aids.

The new Humfree brand enters the UK market with seven lightweight models designed around the realities of everyday life, and marks a significant expansion of Salus Healthcare’s presence in the mobility and independent living sector.

The range features six mobility scooters, Connect, Carbon, Fold, Lite, Five and Urban.

The Connect scooter is available in two colours and features customisable seat pads and backs. It splits into two ultra-light pieces for transport and storage, with the heaviest weighing 11kg, and clicks together easily when ready to use.

The Carbon is made from carbon fibre and weighs in at 13kg, making it Humfree’s lightest scooter. It folds concertina-style making it small enough to fit in the front footwell of most cars.

Fold features a lightweight, magnesium-alloy frame which opens up and folds away in two easy clicks, with no need to dismantle any parts.

Lite is designed to fold easily into a small, car boot-friendly footprint.

Five is a modular scooter which breaks into five easy-lift pieces to make loading into any standard car boot straightforward.

Urban is a road-legal scooter with a 22-mile range and an 8mph top speed.

Glide, Humfree’s only powerchair, features intuitive joystick steering and a tight turning circle for easy manoeuvring, both indoors and out. Its carbon fibre frame means it’s super lightweight, too.

Tom Powell, CEO at Salus Healthcare, commented: “For too long, mobility scooters have been designed around a clinical brief instead of a human one.

“This has left many people reluctant to use them, not because a little support wouldn’t help, but because the options available felt bulky, inconvenient, or simply not ‘them’. Having seen first-hand how that puts people off from seeking support they would genuinely benefit from, we founded Humfree to change that.

“We’ve developed and curated a range of lightweight, discreet, and thoughtfully designed mobility scooters that fit naturally into everyday life. Every product has been crafted with care to support our customers in living a more independent, dignified and joyful life, and help them say ‘yes’ to more, more often.”

To mark its launch, Humfree is offering its UK mainland customers £400 off any of its new mobility scooters and powerchairs, with no trade-in required. VAT medical relief is also available for those eligible, saving an additional 20 per cent across the entire range.

Salus Healthcare Group began with the launch of Oak Tree Mobility in 2008, which includes a range of rise-and-recline chairs, adjustable beds, and bath lifts; followed by Signature Motion, its furniture manufacturer; Well-Co, a mobility aid and home care brand; and now Humfree, a mobility scooter and powerchair brand.

In 2025 Oak Tree Mobility launched the Serenity, a contemporary and wireless riser recliner with a 360-degree swivel base.
