Revolutionary riser recliner mattress explores export opportunities at this year’s Rehacare
An innovative, ultra-thin, pressure-reducing mattress designed to fit over any rise and recliner chair will be looking to grab attention as it debuts at Rehacare this September.
Created by UK-manufacturer MediSmart Technologies, the new ‘MicroCell Companion’ is a patented micro cell slim alternating air mattress that uses an ultra-thin design of 70 alternating cells and can be manufactured to fit any reclining chair.
The device includes an easy-to-use pump that automatically adjusts to the user’s weight which can be left running 24/7 and also features audible and visual alarms.
According to MediSmart Technologies, the system can be manufactured to full size and also as a two-thirds size option, covering the seat and leg/heel areas.
Ideal for those that tend to use recliner chairs as beds for long periods who are at risk of developing pressure ulcers, David Beavis, Sales Director of MediSmart and Chair of the BHTA’s beds and support surfaces section, said the product has already received a lot of interest when it was shown to clinicians and therapists.
He added: “Especially with regard to the issue that regularly occurs whereby users, on many occasions, use these chairs in a supine position as a bed for long periods of time without always having the appropriate alternating support surface as they would do in a profiling bed, therefore sometimes contributing to an increase in pressure ulcers.”
MediSmart Technologies was set up as a sister company to MJS Healthcare in May 2017, with the intention of developing smart solutions to answer the needs of medical staff and patients for hybrid pressure relief systems, including hybrid turning mattresses.
MJS Healthcare was established over 37 years ago, as a UK manufacturer.
The company will be exhibiting in Hall 5, stand 36#7
