Returning healthcare professional bolsters retailer’s knowledge base
Kent Mobility has expanded its team of healthcare professionals with the addition of Emma Dobson, a registered occupational therapist with over two decades of experience who joins the company in a sales and advice role.
Qualifying as an OT in 1994 after graduating from Oxford Brooke University, Emma worked in the NHS for three years before moving abroad to live in Malaysia with her new husband. On her return a year later, she joined Medway Hospital’s Wheelchair Service before moving to Kent Mobility in 1998.
Having carried out assessments for wheelchairs, seating systems, cushioning, armchairs and shower chairs for the following 16 years, Emma took a break before returning to the NHS in 2015.
Now after three years of expanding her knowledge in new areas, Emma has returned to Kent Mobility to reprise her old role and has added specialist armchairs and powerchairs to her extensive list of equipment she specialises in.
Emma commented: “I love a challenge, and am a natural problem solver, so customers with complex needs are my favourites!”
Visiting people in their home, hospital or care home to offer free-of-charge assessments, advice and product knowledge to customers and their families, Emma helps to find the right equipment to suit particular needs.

Often working with other professionals in Private Practice, Social Services and healthcare, Emma coordinates with a wider team to process orders quickly, with the retailer also employing skilled engineers capable of creating bespoke adaptations to meet unique needs.
Emma added: “At Kent Mobility we can provide a complete service from professional assessment to the speedy provision of complex and bespoke items in a matter of weeks. I think that is unusual and something special.”
Based in Kent, the retailer is led by John Payne and Sharon King who have a combined 78 years of experience in the industry and are known for high standards and an attention to detail.
