Resmed launches award-winning fabric nasal mask to help with the treatment of sleep apnoea
Sleep health technology firm Resmed has announced the UK launch of its latest innovative CPAP (continuous positive airway pressure) mask to treat sleep apnoea.
The AirTouch N30i has been designed to create a natural and comfortable sleep experience for users. It has a fabric-wrapped frame featuring a soft, breathable, and moisture-wicking design for optimal comfort in a tube-up mask.
Sleep apnoea affects around 10 million people in the UK and nearly one billion people worldwide. This chronic sleep-related breathing disorder can impair daily functioning and significantly increase the risk of serious conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and stroke.
As a global leader in sleep health, Resmed designs life changing health technologies that make it easier for people to start and stick with CPAP therapy. Building upon Resmed’s innovation and experience in developing high-performance masks, the AirTouch N30i features an innovative ComfiSoft fabric cushion, delivering additional softness during therapy.
In a multi-centre study with experienced CPAP users, 94.4 per cent preferred the feeling of the mask’s fabric material on their face compared to their own mask, and 97.2 per cent of users were confident or very confident to remain on therapy with the AirTouch N30i after 90 days of use.
The users also rated the mask 10 out of 10 for feeling cooler, softer, more breathable, and less sweaty than their current masks.
Joshua Piper, sleep clinician at Resmed’s London Sleep Clinic, commented: “We’ve found that many patients in the UK discontinue their sleep apnoea treatment due to discomfort when initially wearing a CPAP mask.
“The UK launch of the AirTouch N30i represents an important step forward in addressing this challenge by offering a soft, breathable, fabric-based alternative, that improves patient comfort and adherence, empowering more individuals to continue their sleep apnoea therapy.”
The AirTouch N30i featues a ComfiSoft cushion which combines silicone and fabric for a comfortable and secure seal, while the cushion design helps minimise leaks. The fabric frame aims to reduce skin irritation and enhance the overall wearing experience.
By incorporating advanced technology into a compact, visually appealing design, Resmed pushed the boundaries of textile and manufacturing innovation to deliver performance, durability, and comfort.
Building on AirFit N30i, the AirTouch N30i offers a customised fit and supple under-the-nose cushion. Available in three cushion sizes – Small wide, Medium, and Large – and two frame sizes: Small and Standard, this mask is designed to enable a tailored and comfortable fit.
Resmed’s AirTouch N30i mask was recently recognised with two Red Dot Awards: Product Design 2025 in both the Innovative Products and Medical Design & Healthcare categories. This prestigious award underscores the mask’s pioneering design and high level of innovation.
