Rehasense PAWS

Mobility equipment supplier Rehasense UK has launched a new Power Assisted Wheelchair Systems (PAWS) range which has been designed to provide extra power to a standard wheelchair, providing the user with increased independence and the ability to travel further afield.

There are three models in the PAWS range – the City, Cruiser and Tourer with each model being available with automatic or manual clamp and lift systems.

Depending on the terrain being travelled, the PAWS has a range of up to 25 miles and can be charged from empty in five hours.

Standard features include: forward/reverse mode, traction control for when setting off on a slippery surface or slope, cruise control to remove the need to permanently hold the throttle and Walk Mode which allows the user to set the speed at 2.5 mph. PAWS requires no frame alteration or additional add-ons to the wheelchair.

The entry level City is available with a 12” or 14” wheel and has been designed mainly for use around town with the 12” wheel ideal for smooth tarmac roads while the larger 14” wheel can handle slightly more uneven surfaces. The City can also be used indoors thanks to its turning circle of just one metre.

For wheelchair users looking to venture off standard road surfaces and onto more uneven terrain such as a forest trail, the Cruiser is ideal. With a larger 16” wheel the Cruiser offers a smooth comfortable ride.

The Tourer can take wheelchair users to terrain which would normally be inaccessible. With a 20” wheel, 4” fat tyres and longer wheelbase for increased clearance and manoeuvrability, the Tourer is equally at home on tarmac or in a true off-road environment where it can easily overcome, sand, gravel and obstacles such as tree roots and very uneven ground which would be impassable in a wheelchair.

Lee French, Managing Director, Rehasense UK commented: “We are delighted to be launching the PAWS range in the UK. PAWS is the only wheelchair power add-on system available in the UK to offer a fully automatic clamp and lift system and is a great addition to our ever-growing product portfolio.

“As part of the launch, we are looking to appoint specialist dealers around the UK and I would urge anyone interested to get in touch.”

The PAWS will be on show at Naidex on September 15th & 16th on stand H10. For more information on the PAWS call 0333 220 0704 or email ukadmin@rehasense.com.

The Rehasense product range includes mobility aids such as rollators and wheelchairs along with additional mobility aids. Most recently, the firm launched an attachment that transforms a manual wheelchair into a tricycle.
