Recare Distribution Power Add-On

With retail bases in Oxfordshire and Northamptonshire, Recare has continued to expand its power add-on portfolio after agreeing a new distribution deal with French-based Benoit Systems which will see it taking over the exclusive importer rights into the UK.

Adding to the UK’s expanding wheelchair power add-on market, the new agreement will see Recare be the sole distributor of the manufacturer’s power assist Light Drive and Light Assist ranges.

Having been offering motorisation solutions for wheelchairs for over two decades, Benoit Systems’ Light Drive can be installed in less than 20 seconds and is driven with a joystick, whilst its Light Assist, which provides power assistance for attendants pushing a person in a wheelchair, boasts lengthened handgrips and can be installed in 15 seconds.

Not the first time the UK-retailer has distributed wheelchair power add-ons after having successfully developed its dealer distribution network for the Klaxon-Klick handbike range, Recare says it will now supply the new French range to both new and existing trade customers.

“The Benoit Systems were a natural bolt-on to our product offering as a vast quantity of our clients have disabilities such as MS, Parkinson’s, spinally injured and other neurological diagnoses. These clients in particular advantage from having a variety of options and choices available to be able to be more independent and mobile,” commented Richard Holland-Oakes, CEO and Co-Founder of Recare Ltd.

“With 2019 being the 10th year of trading, the initiation of Recare was a dream; to develop a surviving business in the depths of a national recession was an idealistic one at best.

“To look back at the previous achievements and see the growth and development in such a short space of time that is ongoingly developing new ideas and exploring various avenues of the industry is a huge achievement but not one achieved without hard work and perseverance. For every achievement you have, you have to overcome an obstacle elsewhere.”

This latest move from Recare to expand its distribution operations follows recent announcements from the retailer to introduce a new specialist custom contoured seating clinic to its Oxfordshire showroom and to become the UK centre for all ReWalk services, warranties and repairs.
