Quantum Rehab back up camera

Powerchair specialist Quantum Rehab has released an innovative new camera accessory designed to help eliminate difficult to navigate blind spots.

The Quantum Backup Camera provides powerchair users with a rear viewing angle of 170 degrees and gives people the choice of having the camera on at all times or turning on when the chair is in reverse.

According to the company, the idea of the camera was the result of a team discussion regarding how the manufacturer could help consumers safely navigate and steer what was behind them while backing up.

Taking inspiration from the increasingly popular reverse camera technology used in the automotive industry, Quantum has now developed a reliable and durable camera designed to change the way end-users see the world.

Boasting a 3.5-inch LCD display, the camera also comes with a protective case to prevent damage and infrared capabilities to enable it to be used at night. In addition, the Backup Camera can be retrofitted onto existing powerchairs and benefits from multiple mounting options.

The innovation may prove particularly valuable for users with reduced strength in their necks and heads.

Kevin Atkins, Senior Quantum Sales Manager, commented: “This innovation will help transform the lives of powerchair users and provide Quantum dealers with a truly unique offering in the market.”

Available now exclusively on Quantum’s Q-Logic 3 Advanced Drive Control System, the company confirmed the Backup Camera will also be available on its NE/NE+ controllers in the near future.

The latest release from Quantum continues the manufacturers push to innovative, having launched its narrow, mid-wheel drive Stretto at the start of the year.

The unique accessory will be available to its authorised Quantum providers.
