“Selecting the product of the year was not an easy task, as there were quite a few to choose from, with several new products launched this year and a number of new and innovative updates to others. However, after careful deliberation, I feel the product of the year for me has been the Guldmann GH1 and GH3 ceiling hoists.
“The GH3 hoist is a stationary lifting module that is user-friendly and powerful enough to handle lifting and moving procedures in almost all professional care settings. The lifting module is easy to operate and helps make lifting and moving procedures safe, simple and comfortable for user and care staff alike. It charges itself through the rails which ensures that the ceiling hoist is always ready to use. It has been designed specifically for the working conditions that are typical in professional care settings and it can manage heavy loads on a regular basis.
“The GH1, on the other hand, has been designed to deal with day-to-day lifting needs typically encountered in private homes, sheltered accommodation and nursing homes. It takes up little space, is easy to operate and helps make lifting and moving processes safe, simple and comfortable for user and care staff alike. I also like the user-friendly hand control unit that allows for quick and easy lifting for people weighing up to 255 kg.
“During the year, we have collaborated with local authorities and bestowed the benefit of a full X/Y room coverage system which aids and maximises the transfer positions within the room. In particular, we have worked closely with East Riding of Yorkshire Council (ERYC) and installed a few Combo Lock gate systems which enable transfers from room to room through doorways. This allows access to bathing and toileting from the bed can be achieved in one journey
“In total, this year we have fitted over 100 Guldmann ceiling hoists.
“Guldmann themselves continue to invest in new products and staffing levels to support ourselves and the dealer network and a new handset design and trainer modules have just been released too.
