Powerchair specialist Precision Rehab is reassuring customers about its range of safe, socially distanced services, including assessments, deliveries and repairs, as restrictions tighten across England due to an increase in COVID-19 cases.

The UK Government has introduced a raft of new measures to address rising cases of coronavirus in England, including making face coverings mandatory for all retail staff, which is effective from today. Retailers that don’t comply with the new rules could face fines of up to £10,000.

In light of these new rules, Precision Rehab is reassuring its customers that it is adhering to government guidelines and can offer all of its services in a safe manner in order to protect both end-users and employees.

Precision Rehab Director Matthew James said: “Following the government announcement in the fight against Covid-19 on the 22nd September 2020, we understand that many of our clients and potential clients will be returning to shielding, self-isolating or continuing to do so and we take the health and safety of our clients and staff very seriously.

“Here at Precision Rehab we will continue to offer all our services including assessments, servicing, repairs, parts supply and deliveries following government guidelines while using the appropriate PPE (Nitrile gloves, facemasks and antibacterial sanitizer for our staff and products).”

The powerchair supplier is now offering a range of socially distanced services with as a little face-to-face contact as possible, including virtual assessments and product servicing.

Home assessments and deliveries

Precision Rehab is providing home assessment and delivery services to customers using PPE and social distancing. The supplier also confirms that employees check their temperature before starting the day to ensure customer safety.

Furthermore, staff members will wear nitrile gloves and face coverings, and contact is kept to a minimum with products being deep cleaned before and after assessments/deliveries with antibacterial spray and wipes, the company affirms.

Contactless assessments, repairs and servicing

As well as home assessments, Precision Rehab can also offer customers contactless assessments, repairs and services. This means staff follow the same procedures outlined above and call the customer on arrival.

In the case of an assessment, the product will be left at the front door or agreed safe place, and then Precision Rehab staff wait for a carer or parent to collect it, after which the assessment will be carried out from a two-meter distance. This process will remain the same for repairs and servicing, with the engineer calling on arrival, the carer or parent will then leave the product in the agreed safe place, and the product will be sanitised before being repaired or serviced, Precision Rehab confirms.

On completion, the product will be sanitised again, left at the front door, and the engineer will then call and wait for the product to be collected.

Virtual assessments

To protect end-users further, Precision Rehab will also be offering virtual assessments for customers, removing the need for face-to-face contact. Virtual assessments will be completed using phone consultation, customer fact-finding forms with basic measurements, and customer photos while seated in their existing product from the front, rear and both sides.

This information can then be emailed to Precision Rehab’s assessment team, who will then produce a report and quotation for the appropriate product that will be subject to full and final assessment once it is safe to do so.

The powerchair specialist says this service will enable customers, case managers and other professionals to start the process of seeking funding without delay.
