PMG Conference 2020 postponed to July 2021 citing “uncertainties of the times”
The Posture and Mobility Group (PMG) Conference organisers have taken the decision to postpone this year’s event to July 2021, describing the decision as “tortuous”.
The annual conference provides an educational programme, industry exhibition and networking events for professionals working in the field of posture and wheeled mobility.
It typically sees occupational therapists, physiotherapists, rehabilitation engineers and clinical scientists working within the NHS wheelchair services or for manufacturers/distributors of posture and mobility products attend, alongside a smaller contingent working in other NHS departments, the charitable sector, for local authorities or independently.
Traditionally held in the summer, PMG announced before the COVID-19 outbreak that 2020’s event would take place in November.
Following the outbreak of the virus, however, the organisers have confirmed that this year’s conference will be postponed until July 2021.
Emphasising the uncertainties of the time, PMG said in an email: “It was a difficult, even tortuous, decision to have to make, but hopefully one that you’ll feel is the right one for all concerned. The exact dates should be confirmed shortly, and will be posted on the PMG website.”
The conference will still take place at The International Centre in Telford.
In addition to postponing the event, PMG is also extending its current Early Bird deadline by a further seven weeks to 1 October.
It added that in 2021, its Early Bird prices will increase to help cover the higher venue charges incurred by moving the event into a new financial year.
For anyone in the sector with queries, PMG suggests individuals email olwen.ellis@pmguk.co.uk in the first instance.
The announcement follows a string of events that have been postponed in 2020, including Rehacare and Motability’s The Big Event.
Earlier this month, Boris Johnson announced exhibitions and conferences would be permitted to restart from October.
