Permobil has today closed the deal to acquire Progeo, an acquisition which the firm hopes will strengthen its presence in the Italian market while improving its portfolio of manual wheelchairs in Europe.

The strategic acquisition of Progeo, alongside the previous acquisition of Supportec – custom seating and positioning manufacturer based in the Netherlands, enables Permobil to offer integrated solutions to people living with disabilities across Europe.

Markus Mauer, President Permobil Europe, Middle East and Africa commented: “We continue to improve the competitiveness of Permobil by implementing our strategy of developing the next generation of advanced assistive technology and services for individuals.”

In the first phase Progeo products will be marketed in France, UK and Germany. In Italy, the offering from Permobil will include the full Permobil product portfolio of manual wheelchairs, power wheelchairs, power assist devices, seating solutions and connected products.

Gordon Cunningham, Country Manager, Permobil UK and Ireland added: “For Permobil UK and Ireland this gives us an opportunity to build on our success to date with active manual wheelchairs.

“By adding the extensive Progeo range to our existing TiLite range we hope that our users and dealers will see Permobil as the premium provider on active manual wheelchairs in the UK and Irish market.”
