Ottobock Healthcare has introduced a new battery to its Juvo B5 and B6 Power Wheelchairs with over double the amount of charging cycles than its predecessor.

The new battery is the AGM Hybrid Battery 56Ah (C5) CellPower from Intercel and was the result of year-long research into new battery advances, according to a spokesperson for Ottobock.

Simon Tempest, Head of Human Mobility UK at Ottobock told THIIS: “As the world seems to be moving more closely to electric driven power, both in the automotive and commercial vehicles, it is only natural that there will be advances in battery technology.

I am very excited that our R&D teams in Germany have continued to work to a goal of embracing new technologies to enhance our power chair range.”

The high quality battery is good news for power chair users as it improves the longevity of the power wheelchairs, helping to reduce the amount of battery replacements, says Simon.

“Simply put, the goal is for the batteries to drive you further, last longer and be affordable, ultimately increasing the quality of your “Juvo” power chair experience. We feel that with this new hybrid battery from Intercell, we have moved closer to this goal.”

Established in the UK in 1976, Ottobock supplies innovative and practical solutions that restore human mobility and help people to maintain independence. Its wide product range includes prosthetic and orthotic components, wheelchairs, rehabilitation and mobility products.
