Global health-tech company Ottobock is set to expand its patient care network with the acquisition of Pace Rehabilitation, one of the UK’s independent providers of prosthetic and rehabilitation services in the UK.

Pace Rehabilitation were established in 2003 by a small team of experienced clinicians and have provided an integrated approach to the treatment of people who have sustained limb loss or serious limb injury over the past 20 years.

Operating from three clinics situated in Amersham, Bucks, Bredbury, Greater Manchester and Glasgow, the teams of clinicians help patients to improve their overall quality of life and enhance their mobility.

Phil Yates, Managing Director of Otto Bock Healthcare: “We are thoroughly delighted to complete the acquisition and excited to welcome Pace Rehabilitation and their successful team to the Ottobock Family.

“Their endeavour aligns perfectly with Ottobock’s own mission to empower people to regain or maintain their freedom of movement.”

Toby Carlsson, Managing Director of Pace Rehabilitation: “We look forward to joining forces with Ottobock and benefiting from the opportunities that come with being part of a strong international organisation.

“We will join a network of clinics within a company that has a long-standing track record of bringing new and innovative products to the market. It is great news for all our stakeholders, and we are excited for the future.”

Pace Rehabilitation’s team of 40 people consists of consultants, therapists, allied health professionals, technicians, and support staff, who will all become part of the Ottobock Family alongside Dorset Orthopaedic.

Its management team has stated that it is highly motivated to continue its success story in close collaboration with other patient care entities within Ottobock.

Pace Rehabilitation has been a customer of Ottobock for many years. Therefore, the acquisition, which was agreed upon in September 2022, offers an opportunity for Ottobock to complement and enhance its offering in the UK.

Over the next few months, the people, the brand and the patients will be onboarded and become part of Ottobock’s collective endeavour to
support its customers and empower its patients in fulfilling their potential.

Established in the UK in 1976, Ottobock is a supplier of innovative and practical solutions that restore human mobility and help people to rediscover personal independence.

Its product range includes prosthetic and orthotic components, wheelchairs, and rehabilitation and mobility products, including the Wingus power wheelchair and the Kimba, a children’s buggy which the firm re-launched in late 2021.

In October 2022, Ottobock confirmed that it would be a supplier of powered wheelchairs via the Motability Scheme.
