RKS Mobility Store team shot following acquisition

Established by qualified OTs Bev Kelly and Ailsa Reston in 2008, RKS is expanding its rehabilitation and wheelchair operations following the acquisition of Dave Gaucas’ Manchester Mobility.

Having been working as independent OTs for over 14 years, the pair decided to launch RKS with a view to supplying the products they were recommending to patients.

With over a decade of successful trading under its belt, the Cheshire-based mobility retailer sells an extensive range of mobility products, as well as specialising in housing adaptations and providing Occupational Therapy services as part of its offering.

According to Ailsa and Bev, the acquisition of Manchester Mobility will enable the company to enhance its reach in the rehabilitation, wheelchair and mobility market.

Discussing what led to the acquisition, Bev told THIIS: “We have known Dave Gaucas from Manchester Mobility via the industry for many years. His approach to equipment provision is bespoke, individual and tailored to need. We have a very similar ethos and Manchester Mobility is well respected by customers, professionals and suppliers.

“Dave was looking for support with his business with a view to tailoring down his hours (and an action plan for retirement) and we are keen to ensure his clients have access to the same level of service to which they are accustomed.”

Having started working in the wheelchair industry over 45 years ago and championing the importance of bespoke and individual services for his customers, Dave will now work with RKS over the next few months to ensure a seamless transition for both existing and new customers.

Over the transition period, Bev confirmed that Manchester Mobility will keep its name but would be relocated to RKS’ base at Cheshire Oaks, where it will be supported by RKS’ expertise in therapy and engineering, as well as its administrative team.

RKS will also take on responsibility for all servicing, warranty and reassessment needs for existing and new customers of Manchester Mobility and says it looks forward to meeting and working with them.

Additionally, all parts, warranties and new products for Manchester Mobility will now be purchased from suppliers by RKS as well.
