Taiwanese carbon fibre wheelchair models

Four Taiwanese mobility and assistive technology manufacturers are set to digitally unveil a range of new products on 16 September in the hope of finding UK trade partners

Since 2014, Taiwan has ranked second on the list of countries with the largest export of assistive devices, with the output value of Taiwan’s assistive devices have reached £723m.

According to TAITRA, Taiwan’s trade promotion organisation, mobility aids have the largest segment among the country’s assistive tech output, accounting for 38 per cent of the total export value – £277m.

Now, four Taiwanese brands – Gigantex, iXensor, Leadtek and Merits – are set to introduce their latest innovations to distributors, retailers and suppliers across the world.

The products include manual and powered wheelchair models, as well as some technology-enabled care devices, such as a fingertip pulse oximeter.

Of particular interest to mobility aid distributors will be Gigantex Composite Technologies Ltd.’s carbon fibre, one-piece construction and lightweight wheelchair – reminiscent of Carbon Black’s pioneering design.

According to the company, its MF012 model designed in an ‘H’ shape, which enables the user to fold the wheelchair in seconds, while it claims the “MF012 is one of the lightest folding wheelchairs in the market.”

Also notable is Merits Health Products Ltd.’s compact folding powerchair range.

The showcase will be held digitally and take place from 9am to 10am, with those interested able to register here.

The online product launch comes in the wake of a series of cancellations and postponements of trade shows this autumn – most notably, Rehacare, which sees thousands of industry professionals travel to Germany in search of new innovations annually.
