power add-on wheelchair loopwheels

Nottinghamshire-based Loopwheels has developed a new, robust wheel, boasting enhanced suspension that works at higher speed for use with the increasingly popular wheelchair power attachment product segment.

Enabling customers to get the best comfort and health protection for their weight and the typical activities which they undertake, says the company, the Loopwheels Extreme springs utilise hi-tech carbon composite materials and come available in three spring strengths – soft, regular, stiff.

Weighing under 3lbs (1.36kg) per wheel, and claiming to remove much more vibration than any other brand of wheel, the company states the Extreme wheel is made for those who enjoy travelling faster on tracks and off road.

According to Loopwheels, the new design is in response to customer feedback, highlighting that using their chairs with power attachments means they are travelling further and faster, increasing the need to reduce bumps and vibration.

In addition, the wheelchair wheel supplier says users are becoming more aware of the long-term damage caused by on-going vibration and are looking for solutions to reduce that impact.

Gemma Pearce, Managing Director of Loopwheels, commented: “We have worked with some brilliant partners to create the most technically advanced wheel on the market that delivers exactly what customers need.

“We know that this wheel will make a huge difference to many wheelchair users, and have proved through our ISO2631 testing that Loopwheel Extreme will allow people to travel for more than twice the time than they can on Spinergy wheels before the vibration starts to cause them long term harm.”

Creating a wheel that is light enough to lift in and out of the car with one hand, the company is now taking pre-orders for Loopwheels Extreme. Orders placed between 1 September and 15 October will form the first production run, and will be shipped early in 2020.
