Paul Cairns, Director of Mobilisation at NRS Healthcare, who was integral in the organisation of the delivery, commented: “I’m incredibly proud that with the support of our long-time partner, PhysioNet, we have been to support the people of Ukraine at this terrible time.

“We weren’t able to recycle or use these beds and rather than them going to waste, we would prefer they go to the people who need them.

“We will continue to offer assistance where we can, either through larger corporate donations such as this or through more localised initiatives at our local service centres.”

The mobility industry has shown much support to Ukraine after Russian forces devastated the country. Monarch Mobility recently Monarch Mobility sent a long wheelbase transit full of mobility powerchairs and wheelchairs to Ukraine, while Care and Independence set up a Ukraine War Relief Initiative JustGiving page to support the Disasters Emergency Committee and it has been making a financial contribution from every product sold.

Medical equipment manufacturer Drive DeVilbiss Healthcare partnered with foam mattress manufacturer GNG Group to send a “desperately-needed consignment” of hospital beds and mattresses to Ukraine, while Irish healthcare equipment provider Beechfield Healthcare donated upcycled hospital beds.

Hastings-based Only Lifts organised supplies for Ukraine, while Southern England-based mobility retailer Lifestyle and Mobility teamed up with British Paralympian and disability campaigner Anne Wafula-Strike MBE to donate wheelchairs.
