Nobi wins international award for AI care lighting that cuts falls-related hospital visits
Nobi, the AI-enabled care lighting company, has won the International TEC Award at the TSA ITEC Awards 2026, one of the most significant recognitions in the TEC (technology enabled care) sector.
The award, presented by TSA, recognises outstanding TEC work delivered internationally. Nobi was selected for its approach to falls prevention and detection, now active across 17 countries including the UK, the United States and Continental Europe.
To date, the system has detected more than 30,000 falls globally, incidents that in traditional care settings would often have gone unnoticed or been found much later.
Jan-Willem Callebaut, Managing Director Nobi UK & Global Markets, said, “We are truly honoured to win this award, and it means a great deal to the whole team.
“This kind of recognition confirms that the hard work we put in every day is making a real difference, and that our technology is genuinely empowering older adults in their day-to-day lives. It helps us and it pushes us to go even further in the mission we’ve set out.
“To anyone working in this space, my message is simple, keep doing what you are doing. Even when the challenges feel significant in the short term, keep going with the mission. The people we are here to support are worth it.”
Nobi integrates AI-enabled fall detection, proactive prevention and real-time care insights into the ceiling light, an object already present in every care room. The approach requires no wearables and no change to resident behaviour, and has been designed to work across different care models, languages and regulatory environments.
Across international deployments, Nobi has reduced fall frequency by an average of 55% and improved staff response times by 69 per cent. Long unattended falls, among the most clinically serious outcomes, have been reduced to near zero in monitored environments.
An independent NHS evaluation carried out by the Suffolk & North East Essex Integrated Care Board found up to 75 per cent fewer falls-related hospital visits and up to 65 per cent fewer ambulance call-outs in participating care homes.
The award win comes as Nobi continues to grow its UK presence. The company will be exhibiting at Care Show London in April, where the team will be available to meet care providers and discuss how the technology is being used across UK settings.
Further independent evaluations are currently underway in additional UK regions, contributing to growing evidence base on the role of digital care technology in improving outcomes for residents and reducing pressure on health services.
