Newly launched franchise model Rise aims to boost mobility through games
Trevor Brocklebank, the entrepreneur who founded home care provider Home Instead in the UK in 2005, has launched a new company, Rise, a franchise model specialising in improving people’s mobility through games.
Developed in partnership with Rob Oyston, founder of Mobi-Game, Trevor and his wife Sam, had been looking for business opportunities that allow them to make a difference to people’s lives after exiting Home Instead.
Oyston’s Mobi-Game had offered a range of activities for the health and social care sectors based on adapted games, sports and dance since 2018.
These activities are tailored to people’s physical ability or cognitive capacity to bring health and wellbeing benefits.
Brocklebank and Oyston identified the opportunity to work together, rebrand and scale Oyston’s business as well as developing it into a franchise model and a partnership was formed.
Commenting on Rise, Brocklebank said, “There is enormous potential for Rise to support a wide range of people and I’ve already seen first-hand the impact that sports-based activities can have on people of all abilities.
“The model is ideal for a franchise roll-out as local owners can position themselves as the go-to expert for these enriching activities that bring benefits to both participants, their carers and families too.”
Speaking about some recent sessions, Oyston commented: “To see a group of care home residents taking part in a tennis ‘match’ is just brilliant.”
Rise is working closely with a number of care home groups and individual care homes, as well as supporting healthcare professionals.
“The range of people we support is really wide and varied. One of the key elements of our sessions is the opportunity for each individual to reminisce, which is stimulated through story, music, video and images.
“Through our regular sessions we see people progressing and, importantly, having fun which is a joy to see.”
