New Sunrise Medical wheel add-on offers style and function for manual wheelchairs
Assistive mobility solutions provider Sunrise Medical has introduced a “revolutionary” wheel add-on that has been designed to offer style, function, and performance for manual wheelchairs.
With its integrated design and lightweight build, the Empulse M90 delivers discreet power assist without the bulk, wires, or external components typically seen on similar devices.
Offering sleek lines and no visible wires or add-ons, its fully integrated design keeps the wheelchair compact while improving balance and ride quality thanks to its hub-centered weight. Even the removable batteries are discreetly housed for a cleaner look.
Weighing just 12.2kg for the complete set, the M90 is up to 40 per cent lighter than similar products. Each wheel – including its battery – weighs just 5.9kg, making it easy to handle and transport.

The M90 offers two drive modes: All-Way Toggle for power wheelchair-style control, and Speed Controller with Handrim Steering for a cruise control-like experience using the handrims.
The wireless Dual Controller can be mounted wherever it’s most convenient and detaches easily for transfers. Riders can continue using their preferred tires and handrims, ensuring a familiar and personalized ride.
With power and weight centralized on the wheels, the M90 delivers a natural, intuitive drive, according to Sunrise Medical. Built-in cruise control and intelligent hill control help ensure a safe, smooth experience. Riders can switch from power assist to free-roll instantly for complete flexibility.
The M90 features removable, off-chair rechargeable batteries that make travel simple while the lithium-ion batteries are also flight-friendly.
