New patent-pending positioning pockets to promote best patient handling practice
Moving and handling specialist Care & Independence has announced the introduction of new “positioning pockets” designed to improve patient manoeuvrability for carers.
Aiming to change the practice of moving patients using handles, the company says the new positioning pockets feature are easy for carers to slot their hands in to, providing greater patient manoeuvrability control.
James Bennett, Sales and Marketing Director of Care & Independence, explained: “All too often we know patients are pulled into position via the handles, which is not very dignified. The introduction of positioning pockets promotes best handling practice by restoring carer-to-patient contact – especially eye contact.”
The patent-pending pockets will be rolled out across the company’s GLOVE range of slings from 2020, replacing the traditional positioning handles.
With its headquarters in Oxfordshire and sites on the south coast, in the north and in Scotland, Care & Independence produce a wide range of moving and handling equipment which are installed and serviced by its own in-house team.
