Shire Mobility Northampton HQ
Shire Mobility’s new Northampton head office and showroom

After almost two decades in its former Northampton head office, Shire Mobility has moved to a new location in the market town to better showcase its product offering to customers while growing its repair & servicing capability.

Established in 2001 by MD Philip Purdie, the mobility retailer has expanded its presence over the years, opening further showrooms in Bicester and, most recently, in Banbury.

Now Shire Mobility has made the move to a new headquarters where it will now display its wide array of mobility aids, including bespoke and off-the-shelf powerchairs and scooters, in a larger and lighter retail space.

With its original Northampton site having been developed to focus primarily as a distribution, service, hire and repair centre, Shire Mobility says the move will enable it to expand these operations and develop its customer showroom.

Situated on a prominent position of a main arterial road going through the large East Midlands town, the new base features a bright and spacious front of house retail area with floor to ceiling front windows.

The company’s main office is also located within the large space and is completely open to the showroom with a low-level counter.

“The new store offers several advantages from a previous location which will benefit our customers,” commented Miles Pearce, Marketing Manager of Shire Mobility.

“It is easy to find, has free customer parking and is more accessible with level access. The layout is better as well and the additional space makes for a more comfortable retail setting.”

Launching during the coronavirus pandemic, the mobility retailer has also introduced several COVID-19 measures to protect staff and customers, including sanitising stations at the store’s entrance and multiple paths within the showroom area to encourage social distancing.

The new site is located on Unit 6, Beckett Retail Park, St James’ Mill Road, Northampton, NN5 5JW.
