David Stockdale will be joining the BHTA in June as its new Chief Executive Officer.

The British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) has confirmed that David Stockdale will be joining the association in June as its new Chief Executive Officer.

David will join the BHTA following a 12-year-old period as CEO of the British Tinnitus Association (BTA), where he spearheaded the growth and transformation of the association. During his time with the BTA, David was responsible for significantly increasing its standing and visibility in the world of audiology.

“A big focus for my work at the BTA was looking at how to work closer with the tinnitus community and how to place the association at the heart of that community,” commented David.

“The drive was to position the BTA as a leader and supporter of the tinnitus community as a whole, working with all stakeholder groups, including clinicians and researchers, alongside those living with tinnitus.”

During his time, David led the BTA to become the leading patient organisation on tinnitus worldwide through the creation of internationally recognised research, training and patient information, alongside modernising the organisation’s brand identity and strategy.

He will now join the BHTA on the 13th June 2022, where he will ensure the association’s members’ needs are represented during significant reforms taking place across the health and care landscape.

Andrew Stevenson, Chairman of the British Healthcare Trades Association, commented: “The Board is delighted to have David join the association.

“This is a critical time for all involved in health and social care, with new reforms, agendas and priorities shaping the future of the system. Sustainability, innovation, integration, regulation, consumer protection and more, are all areas undergoing change that will have a significant impact on our members. The BHTA has an important role to play in ensuring our member companies’ needs are seen and heard.

“David will bring a wealth of experience, energy and enthusiasm to the association. We are confident he will amplify the voice of association and the profile of its members.”

Before his time as Chief Executive of the British Tinnitus Association, David held senior roles at People United Against Crime as Head of Business Crime Reduction Centre and Young Voice as Director of Finance, Projects and Marketing.

“I am proud to be joining the BHTA and working on the opportunities and challenges that lay ahead for the sector and the role the BHTA can play in supporting the members to flourish,” said David.

“I am most excited about engaging with our members and key stakeholders, really getting to the heart of the key issues, and identifying how the BHTA can help. I am looking forward to getting started!”

David is also a Trustee and Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Sheffield Young Carers Project, as well as a Founding Member of the Tinnitus and Hyperacusis Special Interest Group.

He lives and works in Sheffield, has two teenage children and has a love of ice hockey, literature, hiking and swimming. He is also a mentor for the Sheffield City Region Launchpad initiative, a fully funded business support programme delivered across the Sheffield City Region.
