New air mattress for recliner chairs to reduce the issue of pressure ulcers
MediSmart Technologies, a UK manufacturer of pressure care systems, has launched a new, slim alternating air mattress with a ‘simple-to-use’ pump to retro fit any recliner chair.
Launched at Medica in Germany from the 12th-15th of November 2018, the MicroCell Dynamic Recliner Chair Overlay incorporates patented MicroCell technology, which consists of a thin design of 70 alternating cells and can be manufactured to fit any reclining chair.
The air mattress aims to reduce the issue of pressure ulcers among users.
MediSmart’s sales director and chair of the BHTA beds & support surfaces section, David Beavis, commented: “We had a lot of interest at Medica especially with regard to the issue that regularly occurs whereby users of recliner chairs can, on many occasions, use these chairs in a supine position as a bed for long periods of time and not always have the appropriate alternating support surface as they would do in a profiling bed. This therefore could contribute to an increase in pressure ulcers.”
MJS Healthcare founded MediSmart and has been established for more than 35 years.
MediSmart was set up as a sister company to MJS Group in 2017, with an aim of creating of hybrid pressure relief systems for healthcare professionals and patients.
