About the British Healthcare Trades Association
Founded in 1917, the British Healthcare Trades Association (BHTA) is one of the UK’s oldest and largest healthcare association, with close to 500 companies employing over 17,000 people.
Representing companies that make or sell healthcare and assistive technology products that help people live independently, the Association ensures its members commit to high levels of customer care that go above and beyond their legal obligations via its Code of Practice.
The only one in the sector overseen by the Chartered Trading Standards Institute (CTSI), the BHTA’s Code of Practice helps ensure customer safety, allowing consumers to buy with confidence.

Preferential Insurance Scheme
Arguably not the most exciting of topics but one that is essential and sometimes very costly for businesses is insurance. Retailers attending this year’s show can find out how working with the BHTA could see their insurance cover improved and costs reduced.
The Association works with the ICB Group, the approved insurance broker for an exclusive Insurance Scheme only available to BHTA’s member companies.
According to the organisation, 80 percent of companies do not have the correct cover. To resolve this, the ICB Group has teamed up with XL Catlin to develop a scheme specifically designed for the mobility, independent living and healthcare market.
Research shows that on average, BHTA’s members’ premiums have reduced by over 25% when using the ICB scheme says the Association.
The Association is urging retailers and business leaders to visit its stand at Naidex to find out more.
