Mountain trike, eTrike power-assist-all-terrain-wheelchairAll-terrain wheelchair manufacturer Mountain Trike has announced a major step forward in its manufacturing capabilities after investing in new state-of the-art equipment.

The company has recently invested in a Kemppi TIG welder and established a new in-house Fabrications Bay, enabling full control over the production of its wheelchair frames.

Previously manufactured by long-standing partner GB Engineering, the production of the Trike frames was brought in-house following the closure of GB Engineering at the end of last year, due to the passing of its owner. While this marked the end of a valued partnership, it also presented Mountain Trike with a new opportunity to innovate and expand.

With all the necessary equipment now on-site, Mountain Trike states that it can now streamline its manufacturing process and reduce lead times, ensuring faster delivery for customers.

A new role has been created as part of this development, and the company is pleased to welcome former GB Engineering employee, Paul Darlington, into the Mountain Trike team. The expansion also opens up further opportunities for skills development and career progression among existing staff.

With enhanced manufacturing capabilities, Mountain Trike is now in a position to offer its fabrication services to other organisations, creating potential for wider industry collaboration.

Tim Morgan, Managing Director of Mountain Trikes, said: “Bringing the fabrication of our Trike frames in-house marks an exciting milestone.

“Not only does it give us greater control and efficiency, but it also supports local employment and skill retention. We’re incredibly proud of this development and are excited about the new possibilities it brings.”

This investment demonstrates Mountain Trike’s continued commitment to innovation, quality, and community — all while ensuring that their range of all-terrain mobility products remains at the cutting edge of design and performance.

Mountain Trike is a UK-based company that designs and manufactures innovative all-terrain wheelchairs, giving individuals with mobility challenges the freedom to explore the outdoors.

Last year Mountain Trike welcomed customers, distributors and councillors to the grand opening of its newly expanded production facilities.
