Motability Scheme to bring EV Charging Hub to its One Big Day event in Northern Ireland
Disabled people and their families, friends and carers can look forward to exploring everything they need to know about the Motability Scheme when One Big Day, Northern Ireland returns this summer to the Eikon Exhibition Centre on Saturday 24 June.
The event offers an opportunity for disabled motorists and their families to see the latest range of vehicles, including wheelchair accessible vehicles available to lease through the Scheme, take a test drive and have their questions answered by Scheme experts, all in an accessible location. The event is completely free to attend with plenty of free parking available.
Visitors can also discover the popular Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Hub, which launched at the 2022 One Big Day events and offers the chance to find out more about electric vehicles and charging at home and on the go.
The dedicated EV Charging Hub is designed to be the one-stop-shop for everything charging where visitors can meet the Motability Scheme charging partners, Ohme and Easee, to get any EV charging questions answered, see demonstrations, and discover the latest EV app technology available.
Spilt across two halls at the Eikon Exhibition Centre, this is Northern Ireland’s largest display of cars and adaptations available on the Scheme.
A range of more than 45 popular cars from the leading manufacturers including Ford, Vauxhall and Nissan will be on display. Visitors will have the opportunity to fully explore and access these vehicles, offering a fantastic opportunity to find the mobility solution that’s right for them. A wide range of over 30 powered wheelchairs and scooters will also be on display.
Visitors will also have the unique opportunity to take on-the-road test drives in a range of cars with a professional driver. Test drives will be available to take as either a driver or passenger and visitors can choose from a range of standard production cars, and vehicles fitted with popular driving adaptations. Back inside, on the Indoor Scooter Test Track you can try out many of the powered wheelchairs and scooters on display in a safe space.
Advisors and experts, including Scheme partners and Motability, the Charity will be on hand to answer questions and provide advice for happy and safe motoring.
Younger visitors can enjoy the children’s play area complete with a bouncy castle, face painting and balloon modelling, all completely free of charge. There will also be access to a quiet room with sensory toys, as well as ear defenders for any guests who may require them.
Alison Beasley, One Big Day Event Manager, said: “We’re really looking forward to returning to Northern Ireland with One Big Day to showcase the region’s largest display of cars and mobility solutions for disabled people. The EV Charging Hub has been a great addition to our in-person events, and we’re excited to be bringing that to Northern Ireland for the first time this year. We can’t wait to welcome our visitors to join us on the day and learn all there is to know about the Motability Scheme and worry-free mobility.”
