Motability Operations sets up shop in Scottish capital amid plans to expand scheme
Motability Operations has confirmed it is creating up to 80 new jobs in Edinburgh as it announced the city will be the home for its national contact centre.
The move to open up the new centre will expand the company’s operations, helping it to provide customer service to its more than half a million customers who currently use the lease scheme.
Contracted by Motability (the Charity) to operate the Motability Car, Powered Wheelchair & Scooter Scheme, Motability Operations have operated the Scheme since 1978, providing a leasing proposition to recipients of qualifying mobility allowances across the UK.
The organisation states it has over 600,000 customers who use the Scheme, with 4,800 approved Motability dealers across the UK.
The new Edinburgh office, which will open a short-term office in January 2020, before cutting the ribbon on its permanent office in spring 2020, will help the Motability scheme expand further and work in parallel to its Bristol contact centre and London headquarters.
Lisa Witherington, Motability Operations Head of Customer Service, commented: “The opening of our new Edinburgh contact centre is great news because it means we can further improve our service to customers.
“We have taken our time to identify the location of our new site and eventually chose Edinburgh because we know we will be able to find the high-quality employees we need.
“Many major brands have call centre operations in Scotland, which means there are plenty of people with relevant talent and experience. Our call handlers are consistently praised for their professionalism by clients and our monitoring shows a continuously high level of satisfaction – we only want the best and are sure Edinburgh will deliver.”
With the Motability Scheme continuing to grow, it is expected that Motability Operations will need to extend its opening times, meaning the Edinburgh contact centre will offer some shifts outside of standard office hours and some weekend working.
“Customers are also choosing to communicate with us through online routes, so we will be recruiting candidates who are comfortable using digital channels,” added Lisa Witherington.
