Ableworld Gloucester new store

As part of its ongoing growth plans, Ableworld, the UK’s largest mobility retailer with 34 stores across its portfolio, has relocated its Gloucester showroom to a larger and more accessible site.

According to the company, the new Gloucester mobility shop’s improved layout means the store is much easier to shop for its customers, as well as allowing the national retailer to stock more ranges than in the former retail space.

The Gloucester store move marks the second relocation of an Ableworld showroom this year, with the company’s Cheshire store doubling its size after transferring to a new space in March.

Discussing Ableworld’s decision to invest in larger retail spaces, Michelle Mossford, Senior Marketing Manager at Ableworld, told THIIS: “Ableworld is a one-stop shop for all mobility products and not just a box mover of larger items. We believe customers should be offered a varied range of mobility products from pillboxes to scooters, so it is important that we have adequate space to display these.

“It is also very important that all our stores are easily accessible with adequate parking. Therefore, if a situation arises that allows us to be able to improve a store location in an existing area, we will always look at it.”

Despite no set plans to relocate any more stores, Michelle confirmed that the company has three existing stores in its portfolio it would like to move to larger, more accessible spaces if the opportunity arose, as well as concentrating on more new store openings.

Highlighting that size does matter, the company says it will only relocate if it makes sense financially.

“The size of Ableworld showrooms is very important to us but we will always look at cost of space. As long as they are large enough to house our full range of mobility products, we don’t see the point of paying for extra unused space,” finished Michelle.

Ableworld’s Gloucester store is now situated at 1 Longsmith Street, Gloucester, GL1 2HJ, a short walk from the City’s Eastgate Shopping Centre.
