Med-tech innovation expo

Following the recent announcement that Naidex has delayed its show in response to coronavirus concerns, Med-Tech Innovation Expo has now confirmed the event will be rescheduled to autumn.

Originally set to take place at the NEC on the 1st and 2nd of April 2020, the annual event brings together designers, engineers, innovators and manufacturers from across healthcare sectors to explore new ideas and technologies, as well as source products from over 300 exhibiting companies.

Citing escalating global concerns regarding the coronavirus outbreak, the event’s organiser Rapid News Group has announced it will postpone the event until 29th and 30th September 2020.

A statement from Rapid News Group highlighted that the decision was reached after consulting with exhibitors and partners, suggesting the postponement was in the interest of all parties.

In particular, exhibiting companies expressed concerns regarding their employees, with Rapid News Group stating it had the same concerns regarding exhibitors, visitors, partners and staff’s health and safety.

Duncan Wood, CEO of Rapid News Group, commented: “In unprecedented and extremely fast-moving circumstances we have to make a very difficult decision to postpone our event until September.

“We are aware that this decision will require industry professionals, exhibitors, partners and visitors to reschedule their attendance, which will have an impact on their organisations, as it will for Rapid News Group. We are grateful that given the current situation everyone involved has understood and supported our decision.”

According to Rapid News Group, it is confident that the new dates will deliver an excellent alternative timing for Med-Tech Innovation Expo, offering clarity to exhibitors and visitors.

With events across the healthcare sector facing having to make similar decisions, it is likely more exhibitions and conferences within the coming weeks and months will be forced to take similar action to protect visitors and prevent the COVID-19 spread.

Naidex will confirm its new dates on the 16th March 2020.
